Student Support Program

Overview
These are unique and highly effective programs delivered to school students using age-appropriate content and activities for helping them develop essential capabilities in preparation for their life ahead.
Civic Compass
This program involves key issues related to one’s civic rights, duties and responsibilities in the family, school, neighborhood, community, nation and the world. Discussions include useful topics such as democracy in action, response to traffic rules, practicing cleanliness, lending a helping hand, living in harmony, and many others.
The Emotions Barn
This is a very useful program that will help students understand their own feelings and emotions and those of others during their formative years, especially in the turbulent years of adolescence. They learn to express emotions productively, and to handle emotions in a way that improves relationships and the quality of life for themselves and others.
Nature Nurture
This program focuses on helping students gain a better understanding of the Earth and its fragile living environment, and of the power that they have to make a difference individually and collectively. They will adopt an action-plan for helping improve the environment during the course of the program.
Table of Content
Money Matters
This program will help students better understand the value of money and assume greater responsibility and care with its use. They will be exposed to ideas related to ‘need and want’, wasteful expenses, the habit of saving, philanthropy, and many others.
The Wealth of Health
This is a useful program that helps children become more aware of their own health and well-being, and of decisions and actions that can undermine them. Students will be involved in discussions on habits related to diet, physical activity, hygiene, rest, substance dependence and others, and how these as practiced today can affect their health later in life.
Via Media
This program creates awareness among students about the dangers and perils of media, and how to leverage it for their progress. Students learn to approach media with a questioning mind and not blindly accept whatever it conveys. Students will also be helped to reflect on the ill effects of pornography, of too much gaming, T.V. time, and use of social media.
Peace Champion
This is a very effective program for helping students develop into active ‘Peacemakers’ at home, at school and in the neighborhood. They will learn the skills and abilities to prevent conflicts, and to deal and resolve them peacefully when they occur.
Apart from benefiting from the specific topics discussed in these programs by learning to make better decisions leading to useful and positive actions, students will also benefit from their participation in these programs by developing key skills of communication, comprehension, creativity, critical thinking, debating, inquiry, motivation, planning, presentation, problem-solving and many others.

Contextual Structure
All offerings of AMHARTA Educare, including its Student Support Programs have a strong underlying value-based theme which focuses on key attitudes, moral values and principles which come alive when discussed in relation to contemporary issue and related decisions and actions.
Participation of students in these programs have been organized in age-appropriate groups of grades 3 and 4; 5 and 6; 7 and 8; 9 and 10; 11 and 12.
The content and level of discussion in these programs progresses from simple to complex, helping students gain deeper insights into the issues being discussed, and moving them to take judicious decisions and morally appropriate actions.

Mode of delivery
These programs are offered as standalone sessions, or in combination depending on the preference of schools based on the number of participants, their age-groups, and duration.
These programs maintain a fine balance between highly inspiring and informative content and fun, lively and stimulating group activities.

Duration
Delivery of these programs ranges from a half-day session (3 hours) to three days (18 hours). Experience shows that longer duration programs are more impactful. Sessions will be fitted in the school’s routine depending in consultation with the host school.

Group size
Minimum group size for each student support session is set at 20 with a maximum of 60.

Follow up
A comprehensive report for each student covering areas of participation, ideation, communication, initiative, leadership, team-work, and areas of interest noticed will be compiled based on careful observations made by the program trainers, and provided to the school for its records, and also for sharing with parents. A participation certificate will also be presented to each student on completing the program.
